Each year approximately 3-4 million pets are adopted from shelter and rescue groups, but 2.4 million healthy and treatable pets still need our help to find a home. I’m reaching out to you on behalf of Bloggin’ Mamas, who would like to support the The Shelter Pet Project, a collaborative effort between The Humane Society of the United States, Maddie’s Fund®, and the Ad Council. To help spread the word, Bloggin’ Mamas is sponsoring a $100 Amazon Giftcard Giveaway.
The goal of The Shelter Pet Project is to make shelters and rescue groups the first place people turn when looking to get a new pet.
In celebration of “National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day” on April 30 and to support “Adopt a Cat Month” in June, Lance Bass (a radio host and entertainer who first rose to fame as a member of NSYNC) has joined The Shelter Pet Project to share the love and joy that adopted pets bring to his life. Bass, his husband Michael Turchin, and their rescue dogs Lily, Foster and Dingo star in a “Meet My Shelter Pet” series video from The Shelter Pet Project. A second video, narrated by Bass, highlights the importance of shelter pet adoption and provides viewers with more information on how to adopt.
The Shelter Pet Project showcases the unique bonds between shelter pets and their adoptive owners, and reminds people that there are thousands of amazing shelter pets ready to meet them. These videos and other ads help break down misconceptions surrounding shelter pets and spread the word that pets in shelters are wonderful and loveable.

OMGoodness they have so many amazing dogs, they so cute and they do adopt out pit bull;s!! If I could get another dog I would adopt again!! I tell everyone not to buy from a pet store of puppy mill breeder if they can help it!! Not to say that buying from breeders is always bad. As long as you do your research it can be awesome. But why not give a already awesome dog a home!! I got Nunah my Min Pin from a shelter, she was 4 months old and tiny little pure bread dog that was from a puppy mill. Even though she was all min pin shew as in terrible circumstances. I saw photos of the mess they took her from and am so happy I was able to give my baby a good home!! So yes please adopt!!!

What a wonderful group of people who do this. I operate a small cat shelter, so I know the hard work that goes into it. My husband and I haven’t taken a vacation in over 15 years, because we take care of the cats. Not complaining, because I applaud anyone who gives the time, and truly loves the animals they take care of.
