Stubb’s Legendary Bar-B-Q began in 1968 when C.B. Stubblefield, known simply as “Stubb” opened opened a little restaurant in Lubbock, TX. Over the years Stubb’s grew in popularity and eventually moved to Austin, TX. Everyone from presidents to celebrities stopped in to enjoy what Stubb’s had to offer and in the mid 1980’s thanks to encouragement from friends and patrons, Stubb’s started bottling his sauce. Today Stubb’s full line contains 7 sauces, 5 marinades, 2 injectable marinades, 5 rubs, 4 cookin’ sauces, a moppin’ sauce and a wing sauce to bring a little Texas to your dinner table.
We are so glad Summer is finally here after a long cold Winter here in TN. When I think of summer, I think of BBQ and May just so happens to be National BBQ Month so let the festivities begin. We love using our grill, we even squeeze some grill time throughout the Winter, but it is so much better in the Summer. Stubb’s is the only nationally available BBQ sauce brand (available in 85% grocery stores) to carry the Gluten-Free Organization Certification seal and contain no high fructose corn syrup (the first ingredient in most national BBQ sauce brands.) The company is also working with the Non-GMO Project to verify its line.
We had planned to grill some BBQ Chicken this past weekend and use the Stubb’s Sweet Heat Sauce, but the weather was not on our side. Instead of grilling we fried up some boneless wings in a simple batter of egg wash, and then flour with salt and pepper and then tossed them in the Stubb’s Sweet Heat Sauce and as you can see in the pic they look mouthwatering and tasted even better. As you prepare for the grilling season here are some tips to make your next BBQ Event even better.
- Use indirect cooking for larger meats (indirect is cooking away from the fire), and direct cooking for smaller meats (direct is cooking over the fire).
- Soak vegetables in cold water before grilling – it keeps them from burning or drying out too fast.
- When using charcoal, allow coals to ash over before adding meat to the grill
- For a juicier steak, let your meat rest for at least 10 minutes after it is done to allow all the liquid that was forced into the center of the meat when cooking to distribute throughout the steak.
- Keep different meat types separated on your grill. For example, don’t cook beef and chicken together.
- When marinating, beef chicken and pork can marinated up to two days in a refrigerator. You should only marinate seafood for a few hours.
- Clean grill after every use.
Here are a few recipes courtesy of Stubb’s Bar-B-Q that I recommend you try this season:
- Stubb’s Sweet Heat Grilled Chicken
- Stubb’s Spicy Shrimp Kabobs
- Stubb’s Chile-Rubbed Pork Chops with Mango Salsa
- Stubb’s Grilled Ribeye Steak
- Stubb’s St. Louis Ribs
- Stubb’s Sweet Hawaiian Mini Burgers
