CWIST (pronounced kwist) is a library of fun activities for kids and parents/teachers with hundreds of challenges that kids will love. Using CWIST is easy. Parents create an account and then add accounts for each child that gives them their own login and password. Parents assign the child a CWIST, more on what that is later, the kids make a wish, tie a CWIST to a wish and earn a reward for completing the CWIST. CWIST’s are projects and activities for the children to complete. Since it is the Holidays there are lot of featured CWIST relating to holiday activities. Last year we talked with our youngest children about Santa Claus and the history of Santa Claus, it would have been so awesome to have had this CWIST then. One CWIST that we decided to complete as a family is Teaching the True Meaning of Christmas. It has useful resources and recommended tasks to complete and really gives the kids things to think about. There are tons of other tasks ranging from creating snowglobes to making Animal Cracker Pins to Hurricane 101. Since we are a homeschooling family CWIST has many awesome projects that we can include in our school year so if you are a teacher or homeschooling parent CWIST will save you tons of time.
So the other side of CWIST is the rewards also known as wishes. Categories for wishes are listed below.
Some of the CWIST wishes are monetary, such as picking a toy from the Active Toys section the child may choose a Black Mohawk Bicycle Helmet for example. Now you may be thinking “this is going to cost me a fortune”, but all of the wishes are not monetary, the homemade section is one of my favorites because we can create customized wishes. Maybe your child wants to go fishing with Dad or Grandpa, there is a wish for that. Other homemade options are stay up 1 hour later for a week (this is the one my youngest chose), a trip to the museum or the childs favorite restaurant.
To further help us teach our children the True Meaning of Christmas, CWIST has launched Kids CWist for Kids. Here is how it works. The Parent and Child select a need along with a gift that matches the recipient’s list. Parents assign a CWIST to the child that they will love doing because they know they are helping others and they are fun! After the CWIST is completed, the toy will be delivered along with a special message of Holiday Cheer to the youngster through Lighthouse Shelter and Sarah’s House as well as the Homeless Education program for Anne Arundel County. I know you are as excited about CWIST as I am so head over and register today!
