D-Link originally started out as Datex Systems, Inc. in 1986 and produced its first ethernet adapter for the PC in 1987. Datex Systems, Inc, was renamed to D-Link Corporation in 1992. This history makes D-Link one of the most trusted, tried and true brands of networking equipment in the world. D-Link offers everything you need for networking your entire home from wireless routers to switches to media players to cameras.
I was given the opportunity to review the D-Link 1150 Cloud Camera to try it out around our home and tell you guys what I think of it. One of the biggest features of this camera is its versatility. With a lot of cameras you have to view the video through some proprietary software that is provided or view it on some web interface that is not designed for mobile devices and is horribly slow and does not fit the screen correctly. This is not the case with the D-Link 1150 Cloud Camera. You can view your camera through a standard web browser using mydlink.com but they also offer apps for Android and Apple Devices. These apps make this camera the ultimate nanny cam. No matter where you are, at the office, out to dinner or out shopping you can quickly and easily check in. From within the app you can select video quality to adjust it to the bandwidth you have on your device, pan and tilt the camera and pinch zoom all with no monthly fee.
The D-Link 1150 Cloud Camera also has a built-in ICR filter and IR LED’s so that you get that same great image quality even in complete darkness up to 15 feet. This camera also has the ability to detect motion or sound and can trigger instant email alerts. Another awesome feature this camera has is the ability to be a WiFi extender. Just place the camera anywhere in your house where it can pickup a WiFi signal and it will extend that signal further to help eliminate WiFi dead spots around the house.
We have a couple of cookie monsters in our house that like to raid the pantry when no one is around. I placed the camera out of sight in the kitchen and let it go to work to bust those little cookie monsters. My husband was able to connect to mydlink.com from work and see what was going on just like he was sitting there. The camera also had a straight line view into the living room and it is amazing the crazy things you will catch an 8 and 9 year old doing when they think no one is watching :-). If you are looking for a nanny cam or cloud connected camera for any other reason i highly recommend the D-Link 1150 Cloud Camera. Be sure to check out D-Link on facebook. twitter and YouTube.
