Moana is a story of an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. Moana is the 16-year-old daughter of the chief of Motunui and has always been drawn to the ocean and never understood why her people never ventured beyond the reef that surrounds their island. Moana is smart and compassionate and like other 16 year olds is curious and wants to see for herself what the world outside the confounds of the barriers set forth by her parents is like. The story is partially inspired by oral histories of the people and cultures of Oceania, where filmmakers traveled to learn as much as possible and thanks to this there is a great storyline for the movie.
Like most Disney movies Moana has quite a bit of singing and the music is catchy, there are great characters, of course Moana is one. There is also demigod Maui whose voice is provided by Dwayne Johnson and then there is Heihei, a crazy chicken that provides laughter throughout the whole movie, see both pictured above. Moana premieres in theaters November 23rd, and we highly encourage you to check it out, it is a great feel good family movie as we head into the holidays and be sure to check out the PUA and Heihei Coloring Page, Moana Coloring Page and Make Your Own Kakamora activities.
