Men can be hard to buy for, any woman who’s ever bought for a partner, father or male friend will tell you that. Men can become stuck in their ways as they get older, and many will stick with trusted brands that they know and love. Unlike women, most men don’t feel the need to own the same t-shirt in every color, or even own the most expensive bag and shoes in the store and instead buy the things they need. This of course makes present buying particularly tricky. However, there are some things that are pretty foolproof and may give you some ideas. Whether you’re looking for something for Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, a birthday or for Christmas- here are a few ideas to consider.
Tools
Is the guy you’re buying for handy around the home or in the garage? If he’s a keen DIYer or has a hobby that involves fixing things up, how about upgrading some of his tools? Alternatively, it could be something practical to do if this is his interest, a barbeque kit for example made from bricks could be a fun project to tackle one weekend. Alternatively, it could be tools for a hobby he enjoys such as fishing or hiking. Keep your eyes peeled for clues, he might casually mention something he needs or a few weeks/ months before you could as an ‘innocent’ question about equipment, so you know what t buy!
Alcohol and Barware
Alcohol can often be a safe gift especially if you know their favorite drink. It’s also an affordable price point, even a nice bottle of wine or spirits won’t cost the earth, but you have the chance to go for something fancier if you have a bigger budget. You could add a personalized glass, a nice bottle opener or some other form of barware too to give the gift a boost, sites like Cuckooland have a selection to give you some ideas. Let’s face it, have you ever heard a man complaining about being bought his favorite bottle of booze? It’s an easy one!
Clothes and Accessories
Unless the person you’re buying for has hinted at something specific they wanted and you knew the size, it’s probably best to avoid clothes. You wouldn’t want to embarrass or offend anyone by buying something too big or too small or getting the style completely wrong, clothes are so personal after all. However accessories are usually a great gift idea- good quality wallets, sunglasses, ties, grooming kits, and watches are an option depending on what they like, and you can always get designer brands at lower prices if you shop around. You can’t go wrong with underwear and socks if it’s for a partner, they’re the kind of thing everyone needs and will actually use!
Days Out
Does the person you’re buying for have a new restaurant he would like to try? Perhaps a film is out at the cinema he has wanted to see for a while. Maybe he’s a daredevil and would like an experience, rock climbing, hot air ballooning or bungee jumping. Maybe he would like to see his favorite sports team or singer in concert? If he’s not into material things, then something like this would be ideal. You could go together or gift two tickets so he can take a friend. A fun activity for the day of the celebration!
