Ever wondered how to get rid of those soft, tiny growths on your skin? Sure, these skin tags are not something that should raise medical concern, but they don’t always look good. Many remedies to these skin tags include using chemicals and tools unsafe for skin. Why not stick to the natural way of eliminating them with these 7 proven treatments?
Garlic
Handling garlic will let you end up with the worst stench, but it has long been used as a remedy for many skin conditions, including skin tags. To use it, obtain a large clove or several small cloves of garlic and crush them enough for the oils inside to seep out. Put the crushed garlic on your skin and place a bandage over it. Leave it overnight and repeat the process for as many times as you need to, but don’t forget to rinse the area in the morning.
Iodine
Iodine is effective for breakdown of skin cells, so we know it’s capable of treating your skin tags. Applying the liquid form of iodine with a cotton swab strictly on the skin tag and not on the skin around it will do the trick. Do this process twice a day and repeat until the skin tag has been severed.
Apple cider vinegar
As one of the easiest and most successful treatments for skin tags, apple cider vinegar will solve your problem. It’s known to kill the bad kind of bacteria that can improve skin conditions. Treatment with this requires you to use a cotton ball soaked in apple cider vinegar and securing it using a bandage on the skin tag. Leave it on for 20 minutes and check for skin irritation. If there isn’t any, do it twice a day. Treatment may last a few days or weeks.
Vitamin E oil
Another well-loved remedy for skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema is vitamin E oil, which also works for skin tags. Apply a good quality vitamin E oil to the skin tag and leave a bit of plastic wrap on it overnight. Do this until the condition improves, although getting rid of the skin tag may last for a couple of weeks.
Tea tree oil
Like apple cider vinegar, vitamin E, and garlic, tea tree oil is branded as treatment for various skin problems and skin tags are not out of the picture. To use it, put 6-8 drops of tea tree oil on a cotton ball and apply it with a bandage on the area with the skin tag. Do this for 15 minutes, then remove the application. Repeat thrice a day. The skin tag may only fall off after a few days or even weeks, since the speed of treatment depends on how big the skin tag is.
Banana/papaya peel
Recent testimonials and research show that putting a banana or papaya peel on a skin tag will get rid of it. Use tea tree oil with this remedy and you might find yourself a more effective solution to those skin tags. If you have a latex allergy, however, this is not recommended. You only have to apply a few drops of tea tree oil on the skin tag area, cover it with the banana or papaya peel, keep in place with a bandage, and let nature do its work. Do the process overnight and repeat until the skin tag completely falls off.
Oregano oil
The oil of oregano has been proven to fight against inflammation and bacteria, and heal skin conditions such as skin tags. To use as treatment, combine 4 drops of it first with 2 drops of almond or coconut oil. Apply the mixture to skin tags three times a day, and repeat until the condition has been remedied. Do not cover the skin with a bandage or wrap to let the skin absorb the oil.
Those are natural ways to remove skin tags at home, but there are always other alternatives. However, it’s up to you to find out if these remedies are effective, so it’s best to get help from nature to get rid of the skin tags—naturally, safely, chemical-free.
