Limeades for Learning has funded over 14 thousand public school teacher projects since 2009 and provides many ways for you to help support public school projects in need. Through Limeades for Learning SONIC is providing essential funds to thousands of public school teachers from every corner of America to help inspire creativity in the classroom. There are now three periods in which SONIC makes $1 million donations to public schools:
-
- During the Fall Voting Campaign, which typically runs from late September through October
- Throughout the months of January through April during a series of surprise funding events in cities across the country – as an example, today SONIC funded 75 teacher projects from across the country in honor of National Handwriting Day
- Throughout the month of May during #ThanksTeach, a social media campaign encouraging consumers to thank their favorite teachers during Teacher Appreciation Month
With the continued help and support of their fans, by 2021 SONIC’s total contribution to local public school classrooms will exceed $20 million.
When you visit DonorsChoose.org you will see all of the opportunities available for you to help out. You can search by teacher name or city, state or Zip. The front page features some of the most urgent projects like Ms. Leonard’s class at Evans Elementary School in Evansville, IN who needs headphones for technology use in their classroom. Technology is integrated into the classroom as much as possible to keep the students engaged in their work. Their earbuds are several years old and do not fit a young child very well. Testing and in-class activities require sound and it is very difficult without having working headphones in the classroom. Currently, several students do not use any type of earbuds or headphones so they are unable to hear tests or activities that are read aloud to them. This causes difficulty when completing the work on technology.
Thanks to SONIC we were given a $200 gift card for DonorsChoose.org to pick a classroom to help. We wanted to choose a need in our community close to home so we searched for classrooms in the Lebanon, TN area and we immediately saw the classroom we waned to support. Ms. C. at Carroll-Oakland Elementary School here in Lebanon, TN was looking for donations so her classroom could receive fun learning games like Coder Bunnyz and LittleCodr, as well as Code and Go Robot Mouse, in order to learn the STEM concepts. My husband works in IT and we are an electronically connected family so we believe technology is so important and the earlier our kids can start getting hands on experience with it, the better they will be in the future in this technology driven world.
Ms. C’s classroom still needed $200 to meet their goal and that just so happened to be the amount of the gift card from SONIC so we were able to finalize the funding for their classroom. Yeah!
After making the donation you can see an itemized list or where the funding will go which is pretty cool. We were also able to send a personal message to the teacher and her classroom to tell them why we donated so we had to express our love for technology and how we think what she is doing in her classroom will benefit these kids in more ways than she can ever imagine. You also have the option to include your address so the kids can send thank you letters and you can also upload a picture for them to put a face with the donation so we sent them our family Christmas photo. Limeades for Learning is an awesome cause and I cannot think of a better donation than helping out or children as they prepare to be our future leaders, please donate today!
Queen of Reviews has teamed up with SONIC to offer one of my lucky readers a $50 SONIC Gift Card and a $200 DonorsChoose.org Gift Card so you can find that classroom that touches their heart and support their cause. Head over to DonorsChoose.org today and also be sure to show Sonic some love on facebook, twitter, Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram to stay up to date with all things Sonic.Unfortunately Summer does not last forever and neither will the Custard Concretes at SONIC.
