We always pass out candy and decorate for Halloween. My mom used to take a pair of my old pants, when I was a kid, stuff them full of leaves, add shoes, and the put them in the mail box. It looked like a kid was stuck in there. We used to have so many people slow down by our house. She always did love to decorate!

When we lived in California, we had a lot of traditions, including my daughter and husband decorating the house…every year it had to be bigger and scarier. They also trick or treated together. I would stay home and pass out candy. We all would dress up. We moved about 5 years ago though to 2 different states (one KY and then WV) that don’t seem to celebrate Halloween in the same way…they frown upon the big decorations, they don’t trick or treat on Halloween proper…it’s more of a Fall Festival kind of thing…so that kind of took the wind out of our sails and we have been struggling to find a new tradition…last year my husband did a cool thing the night of trick or treating and projected Nightmare before Christmas against the house and we ate chicken noodle soup outside while handing out candy..that may be a tradition now…this year, for Halloween night proper we are going to stay in and watch scary movies…that may be a new tradition too…when things change..you just have to find ways to make new memories and new traditions…
