Reimagine program to raise awareness about recycling in the bathroom and inspire us to reimagine what empty bathroom products could become through recycling. You may think that empty shampoo bottle is just an empty bottle, but reimagine it being recycled as a hairbrush, being used to make backpacks or even the next playset you buy for your child.
The average American has 8 products in plastics bottles in their bathroom at a given time, yet only 34% of Americans always recycle these bottles when empty. That’s nearly 600 million plastic bottles that could end up in landfills each year. The Unilever Bathroom Recycling Index found that even though the majority of Americans are aware that their empty bathroom bottles are recyclable, less than half of them reported regularly recycling them. How about this, 86% of Americans claim to always recycle in general, and nearly half (46%) reported always recycling kitchen recyclables, why are we not applying this same habit to bathroom recyclables? Due to a lack of recycling, common bathroom products like shampoo, body wash and lotion bottles could be more likely to end up in landfills than their kitchen counterparts, contributing to a staggering 29 million tons of plastics sent to landfills each year!
