In 2002, Lucy, the co-founder of The Honest Kitchen was making pureed food for her dog Mosi in her kitchen, the food was great, Mosi was loving it but boy was it messy. Lucy began thinking about how to make the same quality food with whole, colorful and healthy ingredients, but also be easy to prepare. Dehydration came to mind, making a compact, shelf stable product. Soon Lucy had samples from raw ingredient suppliers from all over the country coming into her home, soon thereafter the prototype recipe for Verve was created. Lucy began the search for a human food manufacturer that would agree to make this new, gourmet food for pets and it eventually paid off. Lucy had signed affidavits from every ingredient supplier ensuring that every product that entered their plant was human edible.
If you read my review here last year you know how much our Shetland Sheepdog Nala loved The Honest Chicken Force with Free Range Chicken Dog Food. We have tried many different types of dog food and Nala has liked the majority of them, but this one is her all time fave, she knows how it smells, she knows how it looks and you cannot mistake the excitement on her face when she sees and smells it. The Honest Kitchen has a new recipe that is called Revel and it is their Whole Grain Chicken Dog Food. Just like the Chicken Force with Free Range Chicken it is a dehydrated food, that you just add water to, let it sit for a minute and then let the pups dig in. Since we last reviewed The Honest Kitchen Dog Food we have added a new member to our family. Xena pictured above on the right is a 5 month old Bulldog/Mastiff mix that already weighs 45 pounds. She is growing like crazy and puts away a lot of food. She is all puppy and plays very hard so we want to make sure she has a diet that can support all of that playing, especially with her rapid growth. The Honest Kitchen Revel is made from wholesome ingredients like free range chicken, organic barley, flaxseeds, carrots and bananas. Revel is a human grade dog food that’s ideal for dogs of all life stages, including puppies, pregnancy and nursing as well as active adult dogs. I love that both dogs can eat from the same box, I do not need puppy food for Xena and adult dog food for Nala so much easier on me and these small boxes of food are so much easier to store than a 50 lb. bag of dog food.
All of The Honest Kitchen products can be purchased through their website or find a retailer near you here and also be sure to show them some love on facebook, twitter,Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram & Google+. Queen of Reviews has teamed up with The Honest Kitchen to offer a 4lb. box of Revel Dog Food to be given away to one of my lucky readers, just enter here.
