There is a myriad of interesting and weird stories about this gold deposit believed to be in the desert of Arizona. The site of the fable was christened the Superstition Mountain by Spaniards who explored the area in the 18th century. According to the legend, the first gold to be discovered in the area was by a Spanish explorer in 1845. He then went back to Spain and came back with the necessary manpower needed to extract all the gold, which would then be transported to Mexico.
However, all the miners were attacked and slaughtered by the local Apaches in the area. Several years later, a German miner and an explorer by the name of Jacob Walz and another explorer known as Jaco Weiser found the mine by accident. Another legend claims that the three were mine workers in another mine, but got fired because of stealing and while wandering in the desert of Arizona, they stumbled upon the mine. After Walz died in 1891, nobody has ever found the Lost Dutchman Mine up to date.
