Our home like most today rely heavily on the Internet, we are a family who loves to play games online, stream movies and we are a homeschooling family and the Internet also plays a big role there as well. Our old wireless router was connected in our office which is downstairs at one end of the house, which is right under 3000 square feet so we have always had issues with getting a good WiFi signal to the game room/homeschool room and master bedroom which are both upstairs and at the opposite end of the house. My husband is a computer geek both by hobby and trade so we have had these WiFi extenders that would take the signal from the router and boost it. They worked ok, we did not like that they had a different network name (SSID) and we often would lose connection to them and have to reset power to them to connect back again.
Enter the D-Link AC1900 Wi-Fi Router. Those three large external antennas do an awesome job of amplifying the signal, so yay! we no longer need the range extenders. At the far end of the house we do not get less than 4 out of 5 bars on the signal indicator which is great. We are a family of devices, my husband and I have Android phones on the WiFi, I have a Galaxy Tablet, Hannah has an iPhone, Phoebe and Ethan have iPods and we have family iPads and Kindles so there are a lot of devices and that is just the beginning. We have 3 printers, 6 PC’s, 2 Chromebooks, 1 laptop and 3 Roku players so to say we use a lot of bandwidth is no understatement.
We also recently cut the cord on Satellite TV and now rely on streaming for all of our TV and movie needs. My husband and I play online games where latency will just kill your game and we have had no issues. I can be playing my game with my friends on Friday night, Chris is in the Living Room streaming a movie, Ethan is playing a game on the XBOX 360 and the girls are on their iPods and iPhones and the connection never misses a beat. Setup of this router is a breeze or if you are like my husband and want to tweak it and take advantage of all of the advanced options, this router is for you.
