Founded in 2003 by Alain Molinié and Eric Lavigne, AwoX designs and develops connected hybrid objects for the Smart Home. In early 2013, the company launched the AwoX Striim™ product range, its own line of connected objects.
Today the AwoX product offering covers three complementary aspects of the Smart Home: video, audio, and lighting. Notably, for the lighting market, AwoX invented AwoX StriimLIGHT Wi-FI™, a hybrid musical light bulb. The product received the CES Innovations 2014 Design & Engineering Award, at the CES trade fair in Las Vegas in January 2014.
The AwoX StriimLIGHT mini bulb installs in your lamp just like any other bulb. I really like the size of the bulb, other bulbs with built in bluetooth speakers I have tried in the past were too tall to fit in a regular size lamp with the shade on. The bluetooth was easily paired with my Droid Mini, my husbands Galaxy S5 and our iPad. The sound is great and has a surprisingly high volume range from such a small speaker. We love the remote control that allows us to turn the light on and off, plus control the volume of the bluetooth speaker. The bulb provides a nice soft white light, not overly white like some LED’s, the output is rated at 12w so it is not overly bright and you should not expect it to light a large room on its own, it makes a great reading light, plus since it is LED, it will last for many years.
You can find a retailer near you that sells Awox products here and they are available from Amazon. Check out videos demonstrating this product and more from AwoX on YouTube and also show them some love on facebook and twitter.
