I have three rescued Treeing Walker Coonhounds. Kenji and Kyoko know sit, shake, and other paw. Kyoko knows the command for down, too. My boy, Seiji, is still very confused about shaking paws. He sits fine, but when I can get him to shake at all, he lifts his left leg – straight as a board, and only about halfway up. I’ve been working with him on actually giving me his paw and also offering the other paw. I suspect Seiji was abused before I adopted him (all three came to me directly from high-kill shelters – two I believe have been used, or at least TRIED to be used for hunting, and the third – Kenji – was tied along a fence with 30+ other dogs to be a living alarm system for a man involved in cock fighting. What I really need to work with all three on is walking without pulling, and these treats would be perfect to use for that.
Dena says
