Eid (translated to feast or festival) is celebrated by Muslims twice each year, with food, decorations, and prayer. As with any type of celebration, clothing is important!
What an individual wears to celebrate Eid is simply down to their individual background and taste—there are no hard and fast rules.
Whatever you choose to wear to celebrate Eid, the way that you accessorize is what’s going to make or break your outfit.
Choose the right jewelry for your face shape
When choosing your jewelry it’s important that you take the shape of your face and neck into account, as this will have an impact on what types of jewelry look good on you and which ones don’t.
Some general rules when it comes to choosing jewelry that goes well with your face shape are:
- If you have a triangular-shaped face, then it’s a good idea to choose jewelry that gives you extra width at the cheekbone. This means choosing shorter, rounded necklaces. Dangly earrings also look great.
- If your face is rounded then long, dangly earrings are going to look good on you! Longer, looping necklaces will also help to elongate your face.
- Square faces are incredibly striking but can be softened somewhat by choosing the right jewelry. Curved necklaces and hooped earrings are a great way to do this.
- Oval faces are easy to dress because they suit almost anything. One point to consider if you have an oval face is that longer necklaces may make your face appear even longer, so it can be a good idea to choose shorter necklaces.
Pair your jewelery with make-up
A lot of people don’t think about this, but if you choose your jewelry and make-up so that they complement one another it can make your outfit even more effective.
If you want to ensure that your jewelry and makeup complement each other, the first point to think about is using complementary colors. For example, if you were wearing white pearls you might choose to use black in your make-up.
You can also use your make-up to accentuate the features of your jewelry. If, for example, the defining feature of your jewelry was a colored stone, then you might want to use this color in your make-up to draw out the color and tie the look together.
Balance your outfit and your accessories
There are some beautifully patterned Eid clothing options available out there, and it’s important to bear in mind the pattern of your outfit when choosing your make-up and accessories.
If you have chosen an outfit that is bold and heavily patterned, your look will be much more appealing if you use more subtle make-up and smaller jewelry. Likewise, if your outfit choice is quite plain then you can go bigger with your make-up and jewelry to create a statement look.
Choose your hijab carefully
If you choose to wear a hijab, then it’s a great opportunity to add an extra pop of color to your outfit. If your outfit is quite muted, then you could consider a bold-colored hijab.
Alternatively, you can choose to match your hijab with an element of your outfit to create a truly well-put-together look.
