Founder Tyson Walters came up with the idea for the Shed Defender back in 2011 because his St. Bernard Harley was shedding everywhere and there was no way to contain it. There were tumble weeds of hair in his car and all over his apartment. He tried every product on the market and nothing worked so he decided to come up with something completely different. His goal was to develop a onesie that went on the dog so that he could contain Harley’s hair effectively and safely. His mom sewed the first model and from there he spent years perfecting the Shed Defender, testing out different fabrics and designs. Harley wore the Shed Defender around town and family, friends and fellow dog lovers kept asking where they could get one of their own and it was that feedback and requests that inspired him to launch the website and offer the Shed Defender to dog lovers everywhere!
I know exactly how Tyson felt. Xena, our 90lb. Mastiff/American Bulldog mix is a shedding machine. She loves to take rides in the car, but that is such a chore. We do have a mat that stretches over the back seat from front headrests to back headrests. While it does protect the seat, it is absolutely no help if Xena shakes like all dogs do. We end up with hair on the uncovered front seats, dashboard and anywhere else it can find to land.
We put our house up for sale about a month ago and with that comes open houses and showings which means we have to get the animals out of the house. The Shed Defender could not have arrived at a better time. As you can see pictured above it fits Xena quite well thanks to their handy measurement chart to ensure you get the right size. It is a spandex type material so it does fit snugly, but that is also how it keeps the hair from escaping.
The patent pending Shed Defender® is intended to be worn in the house, car, or anywhere you don’t want dog hair, dirt, dander, and allergens. Xena does not seem to mind wearing the Shed Defender. She is paralyzed for a little bit like most dogs when they have clothes put on, but she does get over it. I also think it works well to help curb anxiety, she is a lot more relaxed riding in the car than she used to be before the Shed Defender. Another benefit of the Shed Defender is that it can replace that embarrassing cone your dog would normally have to wear if they have had surgery or other veterinary work done that they would need to keep their mouths away from. If you have a dog you have got to try the Shed Defender and experience just how pleasurable a ride in the car can be with your pup. There are no risks since Shed Defender offers a free shipping and a 30 day money trial. Pick one up today!
