UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION is the continuation of Louis “Louie” Zamperini’s post-World War II story and his struggle to find peace and forgiveness after his ruthless treatment as a Japanese prisoner of war. From the producer of Unbroken and the writer of A River Runs Through It, UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION stars Samuel Hunt (Louis), Merritt Patterson (Cynthia), David Sakurai (Watanabe,͞ The Bird),and Will Graham as his grandfather, Billy Graham. While this brand new film picks up Louis’ story where the original film left off, this story stands alone continuing amazing true story of the Olympian and World War II hero. When Louis returned from the War his real battle began, he was filled with anger, haunted by nightmares of the torment he suffered and wanting revenge leaving him feeling like anything but a hero.
Louis met Cynthia who not only captured his eye, but also his heart. As their marriage struggled Louis tried to reestablish himself as a world-class runner and also tried get-rich-quick investment opportunities which along with drinking just drove him deeper and deeper into despair. Hopeless and on the brink of divorce, Cynthia experiences Billy Graham’s (Portrayed by Will Graham) 1949 Los Angeles Crusade where she finds faith in God and a renewed commitment to her marriage and her husband. Now, her most fervent prayer is for God to help Louie find the peace and forgiveness she so desperately needs. Louis attends the Crusade with Cynthia and although at first he was resistant to the message, through the power of prayer and God’s word Louis was finally able to make peace with what had happened to him and move on.
This is the kind of movie we love to take our kids to. Show them that life will throw obstacles and struggles your way, but no matter what with the power of prayer and God’s word you can overcome anything. I highly encourage you to take your family to your local theater on October 5th and view UNBROKEN: PATH TO REDEMPTION. Not only is it great “entertainment” it will offer a powerful message of hope and be one more example of the power of prayer and faith.
