WannaRub was founded by decorated Navy veteran Eric Strohl in 2018. Eric has always loved cooking, especially grilling and smoking. Over the past several years Eric along with his Mom had developed a concoction of herbs and spices that was excellent on all kinds of food, creating a unique and versatile rub. The end product is WannaRub. A seasoning blend that is not only great for grilled and smoked foods, but also excellent on veggies, in dips, potato salad and more.
My husband loves to grill and recently purchased a vertical smoker so it was the perfect time to try out WannaRub. Our first test was on some ribs, look at the color of the spice, you can see the brightness of the Paprika and dried chiles. The flavor on these ribs was absolutely amazing. This rub is not overly sweet which is great for me because I do not like my food sweet, unless it is dessert of course. The blend has a nice kick that is kind of in your face with the initial bite and then mellows out.
Our next test was a Boston Butt and a Smoked Chicken, look at that bark on the pork! We scored the fat cap on the pork before cooking, rubbed WannaRub all over it and inside the cuts and man this was an amazing plate of BBQ. We rubbed the chicken down the same way and made sure to sprinkle some in the cavity and rub it under the skin. The chicken was juicy with just the right spice and it complimented the smoke flavor very well.
Our last test was a test that I did not know about initially. We had a birthday party for our two girls and had a cookout to go along with it. Chris hand pattied some sliders as usual, but what I did not know at the time was that he mixed in some WannaRub with the ground beef. Everybody at the party loved the sliders. Everybody was asking, “What did you season these with?”, little did I know it was the WannaRub. Everything we have put WannaRub on so far has been amazing. I cannot wait to try it on some grilled Asparagus and see where else we can use it. We have plans to smoke a brisket this weekend and WannaRub will be our rub of choice once again. Once you try WannaRub you will see that it is the only rub you will ever need. WannaRub can be purchased directly from their website here and be sure to check out all of their recipe ideas and show them some love on facebook, twitter and Instagram.
