Single serve products are everywhere today, they just make life so convenient. One of the biggest fads of single serve food and drink are coffee pods which in most cases are made from plastic or aluminum, neither of which are biodegradable. We love our single serve coffee maker, but you have to think of all the trash we generate over the course of a year just from drinking coffee. Little things add up and landfills overflow and plastic and aluminum will never go away, even when we recycle it. This is where woken comes in. Allowing us to have our daily espresso drinks, while being easy on the environment at the same time. woken pods are 100% compostable and are compatible with home espresso machines as well as the environment.
The Arabica and Robusta beans are roasted and ground in Italy and sold digitally throughout the continental U.S. and Canada. After you’ve enjoyed your espresso, toss your pods in with your food waste and roughage from your lawn and garden to send to your municipal composting facility. In 90 days, your used pods will biodegrade back into plant and soil. And you’ve managed your own waste.
woken coffee is available in three varieties, Arabica, Lungo and Vanilla. Arabica is sweet and spicy all in one cup, with a citrusy finish. This medium-bodied roast is perfect for a simple shot or any way you like it. Lungo is designed for those who live by the philosophy that espresso is meant to be strong and long. Lungo delivers a thick crema, a bitter woody aroma and a more acidic finish than our other blends. The Vanilla blend is perfect for a sweet morning or an indulgent evening. Medium-bodied with vanilla and woody notes, Vanilla delivers on flavor with a thick crema and no acidity. The flavor we received to try was Vanilla. I appreciated the medium roast, while my husband prefers a darker roast he would have appreciated the Lungo blend more. The Vanilla was smooth, not bitter at all with a hint of vanilla.
woken Coffee is available in individual flavors or order the mix pack to get some of all three. I must say I wish these pods were available for the Keurig type machines and not just Nespresso, but maybe one day. woken coffee can be purchased directly from their website as well as Amazon.
