When we started homeschooling our three children last year the amount of printing, scanning, etc more than doubled. We converted half of our game room upstairs to our homeschool classroom and space is at a premium. For the last year or so I would print to the printer downstairs in the office and run back and forth scanning papers, grabbing items off the printer and all of that fun stuff. Space is at a premium in our makeshift classroom so a full size all in one that could do everything we need was out of the question. When I saw that Epson had released their Small In One products I just had to give it a try.
The main thing to note here is that small in size does not mean small in features, this printer can do everything its larger counterparts can and then some. One task I do very often is scan documents to PDF’s, it has the usual glass that you can scan from, but what I love most is the 30-page Automatic Document Feeder and auto 2-sided printing, copying, scanning and faxing, plus, it prints 4″ x 6″ photos in as fast as 12 seconds. The touchscreen interface is very easy to use and even features gesture navigation. When the touch panel is not in use it automatically tucks out of the way, the first I have seen of this.
With all the different devices today, desktops, laptops, Smartphones and tablets, multiple connectivity options are a must and the Epson Expression Premium XP-820 Small In One All In One Printer definitely does not come up short here. Epson is also a member of the Mopria™ Alliance – a non-profit membership organization working to promote the expansion of mobile printing. The XP-820 is Mopria-certified, meaning it will work seamlessly with the Mopria Print Service and the built-in Printing Framework in Android v4.4 or later (KitKat), allowing users to easily print documents, emails, photos or web pages regardless of brand, device or operating system. We love to use our iPad for lessons and using this Epson printer is so easy. See all of the connectivity options below.
Standard Connectivity:
- Hi-Speed USB 2.0
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n5
- Wi-Fi Direct™
- Ethernet (10/100)

Direct Camera Connection: PictBridge™ port (cameras / phones)
The only change I would make to this All In One Printer is the ability to scan to email from the printer without any interaction on the PC it is connected to. A lot of times I just want to quickly scan a document to access later and not have to login to the computer and interact with the software. If you are tight on space or just tight on budget the Epson Expression Premium XP-820 Small In One All In One Printer priced at only $149.99 should definitely be on your list of printers to consider. For the amount of features this printer really is the best bang for your buck.

How convenient you did a review on this! I’m in the market for a new printer. I like the smaller size of this one!

Yes it really is a great printer, especially for the price and small form factor.
