Plan Ahead
Since you and your travel mates have a time and place you need to be to catch the show, it is important to plan ahead. First of all, make sure you have a reliable car. Nothing is worse than getting a few miles under you belt only to breakdown. Surely then you are going to miss the show. The next best way to plan ahead is to buy your tickets in advance. Do not put this one off. Let’s say you want in Springfield and you are travelling to Chicago to see your favorite artist perform at The Riviera. If you put it off, you may not get a ticket, so order your tickets for a concert in Chicago before you leave and print them out. Travelling with hard copies of your tickets is of utmost importance because when you are on the road you never know if and when you will have cell phone service.
Budget
Going on a concert road trip is not cheap, but it can be done. Plus, there are ways along the journey to save dollars here and there that can add up. Take turns paying for gas and have everyone pack food, so you aren’t having to stop and pay for meals. Also, book a motel along the way, or look for a cheap vacation rental. Especially if you are travelling with lots of people, accommodations split several ways can save you a lot of cash. While you are at the concert, be cautious about spending too much money. Much like a movie theatre, big concerts and arenas hike up prices. Eat before you go to the show and limit the number of drinks you buy. Also, the merchandise table can be a trap, so give yourself a budget before you go peruse the t-shirts and records.
