In 2002, Lucy, the co-founder of The Honest Kitchen was making pureed food for her dog Mosi in her kitchen, the food was great, Mosi was loving it but boy was it messy. Lucy began thinking about how to make the same quality food with whole, colorful and healthy ingredients, but also be easy to prepare. Dehydration came to mind, making a compact, shelf stable product. Soon Lucy had samples from raw ingredient suppliers from all over the country coming into her home, soon thereafter the prototype recipe for Verve was created. Lucy began the search for a human food manufacturer that would agree to make this new, gourmet food for pets and it eventually paid off. Lucy had signed affidavits from every ingredient supplier ensuring that every product that entered their plant was human edible.
The Honest Kitchen Wonders treats are bits of Pollock skin sourced from the Faroe Islands, chopped up nice and small so they are easily enjoyed by pets of all sizes. We had requested to try these treats for Xena, our 82 lb. Bulldog/Mastiff mix, but soon realized that Mocha, our Seal Tip Persian Kitty wanted to try them as well. I had left then on the dining room table waiting to take a pic of the box and next thing I know Mocha had gotten on the table and knocked the box on the floor. Mocha could smell these yummy, little fishy treats through the box so we had to open them. Xena likes most everything so she jumped right in and was excited to try them and Mocha kitty loved them as well. As a pet parent that tries to feed our pets as natural diet as possible these treats are great because they only have one ingredient, Pollock skin, how much simpler could it be?
