ThermoWorks is all things thermal. They make products such as Thermometers, sensors, handheld instruments, loggers, controllers and calibration gear. You will find their products in home kitchens across the world and in commercial kitchens, processing plants and farming operations. Cold supply chains rely on their loggers and thermometers to track the temperatures of product from the supplier to destination.
The ThermoWorks ChefAlarm is a must have in your kitchen especially with the holidays right around the corner. When I removed the ChefAlarm from the box, the first thing that caught my eye was the nice case that it comes in. This makes it very easy to store, keeping the temp lead and instruction booklet with the ChefAlarm and also protect the buttons and display while in storage. The ChefAlarm features a large easy to read LCD that includes a backlight for those low light situations. The list of features for the ChefAlarm are truly endless, use the Min/Max feature to see the minimum and maximum temp of your food over the whole cooking time. Set an alarm for low temperature or high temperature. The ChefAlarm can read temps up to 572 degrees and the cable for the lead can withstand temps up to 700 degrees and the thermometer can even be calibrated, not found in many kitchen thermometers.
The screen on the ChefAlarm tilts for easy viewing and the base is even magnetic so you can slap it in the side of your smoker, BBQ, etc. I used the ChefAlarm to cook the turkey pictured above. I set the alarm for the max temp I wanted and forgot about it until the alarm went off, which by the way the volume can be adjusted so that it is very loud, loud enough for a commercial kitchen or to overpower the noise of my three kids. It is about that time to cook the Thanksgiving & Christmas Turkey’s and Hams, do not guess if they are done to perfection, or use the little built in popper for the turkey, know exactly what temp your food is before you ever pull it out of the oven. Overcooking a turkey like in the movie National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation is a surefire way to ruin the holidays.
