Our two pups play really hard and really do go through the dog toys, especially our new pup Xena, a bulldog/mastiff mix. At only 5 months old she is 45 pounds and plays really hard. We have had those little chew ropes and toys that Xena and Nala our Shetland Sheepdog would play tug of war with, but they always end up as a ball of thread on the floor. I recently came across Tuggo and knew we had to give it a try. Tuggo is not your average dog toy. It consists of a hard plastic ball available in either 7″ or 10″ diameter and there is a rope stuck through the middle of it. One dog grabs each side and the tug of war is on. The unique feature of Tuggo is that it has a removable recessed plug so you can fill the ball with water, sand or gravel to adjust the weight of the toy so Tuggo truly is a toy for any size dog. The contents you choose to place inside the ball not only add weight, but can also add noise. The sloshing sound of the water or the rattle of gravel is sure to get your dogs attention and keep them interested. The 10″ ball completely full of water makes a total weight of 20 pounds and boy is it fun watching the dogs try to pull it around the yard and even the kids like to get involved. We filled the 10″ completely with water and leave it outside and left the 7″ Tuggo empty and the dogs use it as an inside toy.
Find a local retailer near you that carries Tuggo branded toys here or purchase it online here. Since ropes are just something that are prone to wear out you can also purchase replacement ropes so your dogs can continue to enjoy Tuggo for years to come.
