With all of the electronics that kids are sitting with their faces in front of today it is great to have something that does not plugin, allows our children to be creative and learn new skills. The Woodland Friends Arts & Craft Sewing Kit is a great way for kids to learn to sew, build skills and give them hours of fun. We always try to integrate some kind of arts and craft activity into our homeschool day. I think craft time is as good as recess for the kids, they get to be free and expressive, plus I think it is very calming for the kids (and me) and helps them focus better for the next half of the day.
The kit comes with everything you need to get started.
- 5 pre-cut animal sewing projects
- 6 colors of embroidery thread
- 5 sewing needles
- 40 straight pins
- pin cushion
- scissors
- non-toxic fabric glue
- stuffing
- easy-to-follow instructions and a cute portable carry case for travel and playdates.
As you can see in the top left picture Hannah is at work sewing her bunny, and the pic on the right is her bunny almost complete, it just has a small hole remaining to push the stuffing in.
Although this kit does come with everything you need to make a stuffed animal just like on the box, the kids can mix it up and use a different color thread and even make it their own by using more or less stuffing. This kit is designed for ages 7-12, but my 16 year old daughter jumped right in and loved it. While these instructions are easy to read and for the most part understand, your children will definitely need assistance, even my 16 year old did. There were couple of instances in the instructions that I felt like a step could have been explained better or an illustration would have really helped so if you are not a sewer you may have to call your Mom or ask Google a question or two. The plastic needles leave a little bit to be desired, but they are for kids after all so safety comes first. All in all these are great kits. I can see hours of fun being had with this kit on a rainy and with the winter months right around the corner it may help fight off a little cabin fever. The Woodland Friends Arts & Crafts Project Kit is available on Amazon and ships free if you are an Amazon Prime Member of if you purchase two or more kits. Be sure to head over here and check out the giveaway for your chance to win a free kit. Good luck!
