We are so glad that Winter is finally over, the flowers are starting to bloom and the warm temperatures mean we can finally get outside and Xena is so excited about this. Although we try to take Xena out and brush her as often as we can throughout the Winter to try to minimize her shedding, we are just never able to keep up so we decided to let her try out PetSmart® Grooming. Making an appointment with PetSmart Grooming is so easy, you can call your local PetSmart or better yet just book online here like we did. After entering our zipcode we could see that there are three PetSmart locations near us that offer grooming services so we picked our usual go to location. Since this was our first time booking an appointment online we were asked a few questions about Xena, her breed, weight, is she male or female, has she been spayed, all information to allow the website to offer tailored recommendations based off of our pet.
Since Xena is short haired she did not need a cut so we chose the bath and FURminator which includes bath services with a low shed shampoo, de-shedding conditioner and up to 20 minutes of brushing with the FURminator tool which is great for removing loose hair. After the service is chosen we were then able to choose our date and time and we could also choose a specific groomer that is available so if you find one that does great with your pet you could specify them on your next visit. Once all of that was chosen we were then prompted add on additional services. Xena’s nails are black and I have a hard time trimming them and am always afraid I will cut them too low so we opted for the nail grinding. There are many other services available such as tooth brushing, nail painting, flea and tea treatment and you can even add a mohawk to your pet plus many more options.
On Xena’s spa day we showed up to meet Kayla, her groomer for the day. As you can see by the pics above it is easy to find where you need to go and we love the large windows where we can vioew our pet and others be groomed.
This was Xena’s first time being groomed by someone other than us, but she was excited to get to go. Xena is still a little shy and timid, but Kayla was great with her and got down on her level and gave Xena a chance to get comfortable with her. We were informed that it would take 2-3 hours so we left her and went back later to pick her up.
As you can see in the pic above Xena was very happy. Since she is not a long haired dog it is hard to tell by looking at her that anything is different, but you can see that her nails are no longer touching the floor and weeks later they still have not grown out enough to need to be trimmed. The shampoo and conditioner they used on Xena was amazing, she smelled great and her short, wirey hair has never been so soft. When you pickup your pet the groomer will give you a Pawgress Report which details the services that were done, what products were used and any remarks the groomer had, Kayla said Xena did wonderful and she would love to have her again. Head over to PetSmart.com today and make a spa day appointment for your pet, I am sure they will love it and be sure to check out PetSmart on facebook, twitter and Instagram.

We just got our dog a year ago and signed up for the insurance plan. Now we are talking about sending him to the grooming center.

You definitely should! Your pet will love it and you will love how clean they are and how much less they will shed.
